Turning Compassion into Advocacy and Action

How We Work

The Lay Mental Health Advocates are a network of community-based volunteers with a passion for helping people navigate the world of mental health care. LMHA partners with local organizations to educate advocates and connect them with those seeking help

Services

Empowerment

Advocates can help patients increase their confidence in advocating for themselves through empowerment tactics such as practicing ways to communicate with providers.

Resource Identification

Emotional Support

Healthcare Personnel Management & Follow Up

Advocates can assist with finding resources such as transportation, food, and other supports.

Coping with a medical diagnosis can be emotionally challenging, and Advocates can offer a compassionate ear and guidance.

Advocates can assist health-seekers with appointment reminders and to follow-up after appointment to discuss concerns and barriers.

How it Works

Find Help

Everyone could use a helping hand, especially those struggling with the weight of mental illness. We partner with local mental health organizations to connect our advocates with those seeking help.

Get connected with an advocate to seek empowerment, emotional support, health identifying resources, and more.

Our Founders
